goodness i wish i updated this more. but with the kids, husband, house, school...knitting is one of those things that gets lost in the shuffle. trying to be better about it though, it's such a relaxing thing for me.

a couple of months ago i came up with the idea of making sophie a button hat. she was saddled with the nickname "buttons" early on in life. i don't know why, i just got in the habit of asking, "what's wrong, buttons?" when she was a screaming newborn and it stuck.

about twenty minutes ago i finished her button hat, in her favorite color. she picked out the buttons, which have a funny story of their own. they're actually buttons from a sweater that my mother-in-law wore a lot when ally was a baby. as ally got older she would play with the buttons. well the sweater fell apart but my mother-in-law held onto the buttons and passed them along to me last week when i was looking for some for the hat.

sophie's reaction when i gave her the hat? "thanks mama! you made me the best hat!" can't ask for more than that in the recognition department :)

yay i'm finally posting...or something.

lately i've been a very hot & cold knitter. either i want to sit and knit 24/7 or i get so busy/distracted that i don't pick up the sticks for months. and i hate that, i want to knit so i needs to make time to knit.

the current project: ballerina wrap from zoe mellor's adorable knits for tots. it's providing lots of great new techniques for me to try. i just hope i can finish it in time to present as a gift soon!
